Solar Converter's PT1224-60 solar charge controller maximizes charging current from up to 60 amps of solar panel input with Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT). PT series charge controllers also use Pulse Width Modulated (PWM) charging to ensure that your batteries receive maximum current during initial charging, tapering off to a low 'float' voltage as they reach full charge.
The PT1224-60 has both 12 and 24 volt input and output options built-in, allowing use in systems of either voltage. It is shipped from the factory pre-set to charge a 12V battery bank from a 24V solar array, but input and output settings are adjustable.
The PT1224-60 also features a built-in load diversion controller, allowing control of wind and water turbines as well as solar panels. The load diversion controller is designed to shunt excess current to a dump resistor.
Over-temperature compensation regulates charging in high heat/high current situations. Other charge controllers may shut off charging due to overheating (from high charge rates or sun heating), losing some of the best charging current of the day. Solar Converters' PT series controllers will regulate charging current to prevent overheating, and continue charging throughout the day.
