Ampair's 100 watt UW100 water generator (formerly the Aquair UW) is a very durable, versatile solution for commercial, cabin or marine hydroelectric power for 12VDC power systems. Also commonly used to power remote site monitoring, data collection sites, etc.

The forward facing shrouded 3 bladed propeller drives a permanent magnet alternator producing up to 100 watts, or 8 Amps output current for a 12 volt system at 9.2 mph (8 knots or 4 m/s).
Water speed greater than 4 mph (3.75 knots or 1.79 m/s) is highly recommended or power output will not be significant. Power output increases with faster water speed.

The propeller, cable exit and rear of the casing are all double sealed. The alternator body is filled with mineral oil, with a reservoir in the rear end casing, to prevent corrosion and equalize pressure changes caused by depth and ambient temperature.
Prop diameter is 312mm (12.28 inches). Overall length, including prop and housing, is 367mm (14.49 inches).

Effective January 2008 comes standard with the Shrouded Propeller, to prevent seal damage from fishing line or debris. A Low-RPM propeller is also available for high water speed locations (flow greater than 10 knots, 5.14 meters per second; max 16 knots, 8.23 m/s). It is recommended for high flow rate situtuations to order the AQUW with a standard prop and the Low RPM prop as an extra in case of changes to water flow rates. The Low-RPM and Anti-Clockwise replacement props can be seen below in our recommended options.
