The LH1000 is an exciting hydro turbine that produces DC electrical power at sites with sufficient large amounts of water flowing across relatively level terrain. The LH1000 uses a durable, low-head bronze propeller to produce power on a head of 2 to 10 feet. ~90 watts at 2 feet of head with ~450 gpm up to 1000 watts (possibly enough for an average household!) at 10 feet of head with 1000 gpm. If you have more than 10 feet of head you should consider the Water Baby or Stream Engine enclosed system. Areas with small dams, water falls or with old water wheel installations are great candidates for this turbine. The turbine is designed to be supplied from an open-topped trough with a max depth of 18 inches.

The LH1000 uses a permanent magnet alternator, which increases the efficiency and performance while greatly reducing the maintenance. This alternator is specifically designed for DC electrical output, eliminating the extra cost and inconvenience of an external turbine speed controller. Readily available in 12, 24, 48 or 120 volt DC output.

Water enters the LH1000 through the turbine inlet guide vane assembly which is designed to bolt directly to the bottom of a trough. As it falls through the turbine it turns the propeller, which spins the alternator, creating electricity. The water exits the turbine through the draft tube, which is a sealed, tapered tube immersed in the tail water. The draft tube must remain immersed in the tail water as it creates a suction effect, greatly increasing the turbine capacity and output. You will need to supply 6” Schedule 40 PVC pipe to adapt the draft tube to the turbine discharge. Length of pipe is determined by the head and flow.

The LH1000’s light weight and small size allow for easy installation, portability and quick removal during adverse conditions. Or even moved to a new site with minimal trouble.

The "ultra high voltage" 240/480VAC options involve factory re-wiring the current control system, and is intended for special-use situations only.
